Benson has new welders?

By Ethen Solomon

Benson High School has new welders? Mr. Manzke had gotten a 25,000 dollar grant to upgrade the welding equipment. The new equipment included, three brand new Miller welders, brand new laser engraver and we have got new curtains to protect your eyes in the shop, With these new welders we will be able to better teach the kids how to weld better because the welders won’t break down so the kids won’t have to fight over one. Having new welders will help teach the kids how to lay better welds because they are new. The old welders were traded in and will be fixed and donated to other schools.

What was your favorite part of the game? “My favorite part of the game was seeing the student section getting hyped every time we got a key point.”  Do you think the game could have gone better? “No, because after the game Shannon (coach) asked us if we left it all on the court because that was our goal and everyone answered “Yes”.” Did you have fun playing your last home game? The energy and atmosphere was an amazing place to play in. Were you sad playing your last home game? “It was hard to control emotions realizing that it will be the last time playing on my home court in front of my family and friends, but I’m very thankful for the endless laughs and unforgettable memories that I’ve made with my teammates. TAKING ON DANCE A NEW WAY.

By: Ellie Schiller
BENSON: The Braves are taking a new look on dance this year with the compilations of the auditorium at Benson High School last spring. Due to the ceiling collapsing in the auditorium, a month before the recital… people were scrambling to find a way to make things work the best for everyone. In just a short amount of time, it ended up being in the main gym at the High School. With the ceiling collapsing it made practicing very difficult for all the dancers and dance instructors, and also to make things look as identical to the auditorium as possible. This year dance practices will be at new places including, McKinney’s, and the Unique Boutique. Junior, Danielle says “I am very excited for dance to start! I am thrilled to see what the gym with look like this year now that we will have more time to prepare for the recital. I hope that people give as much feedback and comments as they can to make the gym look as much as an auditorium as possible” The dance recital will still be held in the main gym at the High School, but hopefully with the complications and the short amount of time to react last year, dance instructors, kids in dance, and parents will have more feedback to make the dance recital a more comfortable place to be.

BENSON- Friday, October 6, Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City trumped The Braves ending the game 26-0;The Braves have yet to win a game this season.

The Braves fought well against The Falcons, but eventually succumbed to ACGC’s tough offense. Initially recovering two fumbles and recording four sacks in the beginning, Benson could hold out no longer. The Falcons finished the game in the lead by scoring a touchdown in all four quarters, with 325-75 in total yards, 68-41 in scrimmage plays, and 19-5 in first downs. The field conditions did not play in favor of The Braves, with wide receiver, Matt Connolly, saying, “It was so muddy it was hard to tell who was on each team.” When asked for his thoughts on how the game went, Matt Connolly responded, “Our offense was having trouble moving the ball, but our defense had some success by recovering two fumbles. ACGC is a very well rounded team with a great amount of speed and athleticism, I thought we battled hard against them.” With only two games left in the season, The Braves prepare for an away game this week against the Montevideo Thunderhawks, where they hope to pull off a win.
